See more: Apps
SooSL is software for making a sign language dictionary.
Sign Language Teachers can use SooSL to create a sign language dictionary for their students. Sign language researchers can use it to collect and/or compare signs from different sign languages or sign language dialects.
SooSL
- Works with any sign language.
- Is easy to use.
- You can add videos for signs, example sentences, and comments.
- You can look up signs by handshape, location, motion, or gloss.
- You can play the videos at different speeds: 1, 0.50, 0.33, 0.25.
- You can add glosses in many written languages.
- Works on Windows or Mac.
SooSL is free software. Go to the SooSL website to download SooSL for Windows and Apple Mac.
NB: SooSL works locally: the software and the signs are saved on a local computer. If you want to share dictionaries, you have to export the dictionary, send the (sometimes very large) file to another person, who can then import the dictionary into his/her own (local) version of SooSL.
NB2: SooSL is 'work in progress'.
NB3: SooSL is Open Source software. Developers can download the source code and add new features.
