E-Scale

E-Scale is a MOOC for sign language users in France and the USA. It is a research project of the Laboratoire de Recherche sur le Langage of Clermont-Ferrand, France, and Gallaudet University in Washington DC. 

The aim of E-Scale is to optimize visual e-learning methods for sign language users. Information in E-Scale is presented in LSF, ASL, English text and French text. 

E-Scale is aimed at Deaf learners who want to improve their level of LSF and written French, or ASL and written English. The pedagogical setting includes 8 weeks of training, based on multimodal interactions between participants within synchronous and asynchronous activities. The website provides educational resources and involves web-based video-interaction, textchat, collaborative editing of documents.
